Healthy, Happy and Lovin' Life

Healthy options for Super Bowl Sunday!

With the Super Bowl coming up we all know there will be all sorts of food that may not be so good for our healthy lifestyle. In an effort to help you not derail your progress or be left beating yourself up for blowing it, I wanted to share a few healthy alternatives that will help you not feel deprived while everyone else is snacking 👍🏼
Here are a few of my faves that I’ll be making:

A Twist on Motivational Monday!

Living with chronic pain may seem like a never ending battle at times. And then some days you may feel great. When you never know which one you will encounter day to day it can be very frustrating! It can also leave you feeling like you have no control over what you’re able to do!!
My chronic pain comes from both old injuries as well as auto-immune diseases. One of the things that has helped me cope with my chronic pain is researching and trying new things to see what helps. Simple things such as foam rolling and stretching every day have helped me tremendously! I know it can be difficult to find the energy some days but not only can certain techniques help alleviate pain and stiffness; most importantly, finding things that help you feel even the tiniest bit better can help you feel like you’ve regained control of your body and what you’re able to do on a daily basis.

Now obviously I’m not a doctor but if you’re suffering and there’s any way I can help you, I’d love to!!! Feel free to leave a comment or email me, lesluvfit@gmail.com 😘

Not my plan!

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:4-5
While this isn’t your typical thankful verse, it’s the one I chose for today. If you read through you’ll see why! I picked this verse because for me this year has been a huge one for truly learning to trust in the Lord with all of my heart. It certainly has not been easy. I would never have planned for me not being able to work and needing to take care of my mom who had to have two surgeries in the last 3 months. In fact if I would have stuck to my plan instead of following God’s guidance, I would be an RN right now. But God has different and much bigger plans for me.

God has used this time to help me grow as a person and shown me how to truly trust in Him to provide, for guidance on what direction my life needs to go and to appreciate this time rather than complain that my life isn’t going according to my plan!

Are you in a time of change and trusting in God rather than living according to your own plan? I’d love to hear what verses provide comfort and guidance to you!

Trust the Process!

Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.
Romans 5:3-4

When you first start out on your fitness journey you may find a workout program you’re excited about or a healthy eating plan that promises great results. The first couple weeks are great but you just aren’t seeing the progress you’d hoped for. So you find yourself struggling to stay on track and wondering if it’s really going to work. And possibly even quitting altogether.

Our society today is so used to fast food, looking something up online to find a quick answer, microwaving rather than cooking in the oven; I’m not saying any of this is bad necessarily. This way of life has just put us into an everything is now, now, now mentality and we expect everything to happen right away.

The same way of thinking can creep into our spiritual life as well. We may pray and ask God for guidance but we just go ahead and do it ourself because we are tired of waiting. Anyone else guilty of this, or is just me??? Or worse we just do it without even seeking God’s guidance! Today’s verse is an excellent reminder to trust the process.

Change takes time, growth takes time. Is it easy to wait? heck no! I am not a patient person; but I have learned these two important lessons: 1) changing your body through proper nutrition and fitness takes time… There are no quick fixes!!! 2) God’s plan is always better than what I come up with!

Do you struggle with impatience? Do you find yourself looking for quick fixes in your fitness and faith? If so, I’d love to chat with you and encourage you 💕

Growth is a painful process!

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen.
2 Cor 4:16-18

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying nothing good ever came from a comfort zone. So it is with your faith and fitness.

If you want to grow spiritually you will be tested, you will have trials but these are meant to help strengthen your faith. Also, in your fitness journey you will experience physical pain whether it’s muscle soreness or injury from overdoing it. The temporary pain and discomfort is a sign that you are growing stronger and changing your body.

Although painful, these things are necessary for you to change spiritually and physically. How do you cope with the growing pains you’ve experienced? I’d love to hear from you 😊

Faith + Fitness Friday

So you may be wondering what faith and fitness have in common? Quite a bit actually! I’ll be posting one topic each over the next few weeks to show how these two aspects of life are similar.

Topic 1: Go All In

Work hard and do not be lazy. Serve the Lord with a heart full of devotion. Romans 12:11 GNT

In both fitness and faith (as with anything important in your life), you can’t just do it halfway. If you really want to see change and growth you have to put in the necessary time and effort. If you don’t truly devote yourself and work towards your goals you won’t see the progress you want! So if you’re feeling empty spiritually and not seeing the results you want physically, ask yourself if you’re truly putting your whole heart and effort in?

I don’t know about you but when I start getting discouraged and feeling like the cards are stacked against me its usually because I’m not reading my bible daily and allowing quiet time for God to speak to me. Once I fix that, I can definitely tell the difference.

And fitness wise if I don’t workout regularly it’s very similar, I just feel run down and blah. But once I’m back to my regular routine, I notice increased energy and feel like a totally different person!

What helps keep you on track with your faith and fitness? I’d love to hear from you, please comment and let me know!
